Objective 1

Predicting key pest timing and determining if existing IPM tools and models remain effective.

The overarching goal of our project's first objective is to measure phenological shifts of key pests and  evaluate reliability of available monitoring tools and models.

We will achieve these goals by addressing the following sub-objectives:

Obj 1.1

Evaluate and improve precision of Lepidopteran decision support tools

Obj. 1.2

Combine degree day models and tree stress indicator tools for predicting San Jose Scale outbreaks in peach and apple orchards

Obj. 1.3

Increase predictability of decision support tools for Plum Curculio management

Obj. 1.4

Conduct baseline monitoring of Brown Marmorated Stinkbug and T. japonicus  populations in orchards to compare  with historic data on relative population densities

Obj. 1.5

Identify apple and peach growers' perceptions of monitoring tools and models so we can determine what issues create barriers to producer adoption and use of new IPM strategies
